Somali Prime Minister receives UAE Ambassador

MOGADISHU – (warsoor) – Hassan Ali Kheyre, the Somali Prime Minister received on Tuesday Mohammed Ahmed Othman Al Hammadi, UAE Ambassador to Somalia, at his office at the Prime Minister’s office in Mogadishu.

During the meeting, the ambassador conveyed the condolences of the UAE leadership, government and people to the government and the people of Somalia and to the families of the victims of the recent brutal terrorist attack in Mogadishu, which resulted in hundreds of deaths and injuries of innocent civilians.

For his part, the Somali Prime Minister expressed his thanks and appreciation to the UAE leadership, government and people for this humanitarian stand and for its noble initiative, commending the UAE’s role in supporting Somalia in all fields.

The UAE on Wednesday announced it would bear the treatment cost of 100 Somalis who were injured in the suicide blasts in the capital, Mogadishu, on 14th October and that it would take care of children of those injured in the attacks. TheUAE also said that it would also send urgent medical supplies and medicines to Somali hospitals to increase their ability to provide healthcare to the increasing number of injured people.

The humanitarian gestures were in response to the directives of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, with the support of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler’s Representative in the Dhafra Region and President of the Emirates Red Crescent, ERC.

The UAE also announced that the ERC would take care of 300 orphans who lost their families in the explosions for a period of six months, after which they will be included in the orphans’ sponsorship programme.
