Death toll of the terrorist attack rises, condemned act

Mogadishu – (warsoor) – At least 16 people were killed and over 30 others injured after Al-Shabaab militants carried out bomb attack and then gunfire inside Nasa-Hablod hotel1 in Mogadishu on Saturday afternoon, officials said Sunday.

Spokesman of the Ministry of Internal Security, Abdikamil Mo’allim Shukri told Xinhua that new dead bodies found from under the destruction including Member of Parliament.

“The death toll increased to 5 others including the state minister of the Somali Prime Minister for environment and member of the federal Parliament, Buri Mohamed Hamza, it was 11 mid last night and over 30 others injured in the terrorist attack in the hotel”, Mr. Shukri said.

The Spokesman added that sanitation team from Benadir regional Administration are cleaning the waste and debris of the destroyed hotel building at moment.

Somali Minister of foreign Affairs, Abdisalam Hadliye Omar said, “My condolences to the family and loved of State Minister Burci M. Hamza. He was an asset to Somalia “.

A young doctor and former minister were also among the dead.

Most of the people injured in the attack were admitted to Madina hospital according to the officails.

“We received 36 injured people on Saturday evening, 11 of them went back to their homes after treatment as they had minor injuries, the rest are the in the hospital, 8 dead were also brought at the hospital, some still remain at mortuary room”, Dr. Mohamed Nor, one Madina hospital officers said Sunday.

Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamed condemned the attack against the people and government of Somalia.

“Somali people and government will not surrender to the militant group of Al-Shabaab, it is fortunate that people, government and security forces are working the fight against the enemy, this coward attack was aimed at to show fear to people from supporting the government” , the president said in a statement.

Foreign friend countries also condemned the attack against innocent civilians at Hotel Naso-Hablod in Mogadishu.

Al-Shabaab militants claimed the responsibility of the latest attack in Mogadishu hotel.

The group carried out another deadly at Ambassador Hotel in Mogadishu early this month where two of the parliament members were among the dead.
