Telesom Donates Construction Material to Victims of Heavy Rainfall in Las Geel District

Dacar Budhuq – (warsoor) -Somaliland’s giant and leading telecommunication services and mobile money transfer provider, Telesom has on Thursday donated constructions materials for the reconstruction and rejuvenation of communities in Dacarbudhuq and surrounding villages in Laasgeel district hit by the recent heavy rains with high speed winds.

In a ceremony held at Dacar Budhuq town, and that was attended by members of the cabinet, high ranking Telesom officials, district officials and traditional elders, Telesom handed over 500 bags of cement and 1,200 pieces of corrugated metal roofing sheets.

Speaking at the ceremony, Telesom’s Social Development Director, Abdiwahab Mohamed Maah, said the donation was in line with the company’s slogan as well as in tandem with the corporate social responsibility policy of the company.

On August 11, heavy rains and high speed winds caused flooding and massive damage in Laas Geel and Salahley districts. The gusty winds destroyed homes, schools, hospitals and uprooted trees in these two districts.

While expressing their gratitude for the donations, Laas Geel district chairman and other officials who spoke at the ceremony, thanked Telesom Company for being among the first responders to the disaster by donating much needed construction materials.

This is the company’s second donation to the victims of the “Heavy Rain Event of August 11.” after the company donated 500 bags of cement and 2,000 corrugated metal roofing sheets for the rebuilding and rehabilitation of Salahley district community destroyed by the heavy rain and high speed winds.
