Neymar ‘will stay at PSG’ this summer amid Barcelona transfer links, agent says

Brazilian star Neymar is likely to stay at Paris Saint-Germain this summer because of the financial impact of the coronavirus pandemic, his agent has said.

The forward joined the Ligue 1 side from Barcelona in a world-record €22milion deal in the summer of 2018, but has been heavily linked with a return to the Nou Camp.

Despite interest from the Catalan giants, the huge cost of bringing the 28-year-old back to LaLiga was already a significant obstacle even before football’s Covid-19 shutdown.

Barca are instead expected to make a move for Inter Milan striker Lautaro Martinez, while trying to offload the likes of Philippe Coutinho and Ousmane Dembele to balance the books.

That means a move for Neymar would not be feasible and Wagner Ribeiro concedes that another year in Paris is his clients most likely option.

“I think Neymar will stay at PSG because the market is different,” Ribeiro told Fox Sports. “The economic world of football will change.”
