East Libyan forces heading south to secure oil sites

It was Monday Night Fast Food this week at the White House as the Trump Administration — ever mindful of the bad optics that could come a from gourmet dinner during a government shutdown — decided to order in to feed the national college football champions, the Clemson University Tigers.

The banquet table set up in the State Dining Room, which was immediately photographed by both media and football players for all the world to see, was piled high with offerings from various fast-food eateries, including Big Macs, Filet-O-Fish sandwiches and Domino’s Pizza.

The White House, someone joked on late-night TV, had been turned into the White Castle.

“Because the Democrats refuse to negotiate on border security,” a statement from press secretary Sarah Sanders explained, “much of the residence staff at the White House is furloughed — so the president is personally paying for the event to be catered with some of everyone’s favorite fast foods.”

If Trump was trying to impress the players, it worked — at least for Clemson star quarterback Trevor Lawrence, who said he loved the spread and was going back for seconds.

“It was awesome,” Lawrence told TMZ after chowing down at the White House. “We had McDonald’s and everything. It was good!”
